Rachelle lives in the rural Northamptonshire village of Cottesbrooke with her young family, working from home in her studio. Rachelle trained as a printmaker at Chester College and qualified with a B.Ed Hons in Art in 1988. She taught in primary schools on the Wirral and in Rutland but finally left teaching in 1998 to pursue her career in art.
As an artist she is inspired by colour, pattern and texture, creating bold strong contemporary images. Rachelle continues to explore new ideas and techniques, experimenting with using different mediums and surfaces. She works in series; one work being dictated by the colours mixed in the previous work.
Rachelle exhibits regularly at several Midlands Galleries throughout the year . She holds at least 2 solo shows each year, namely in spring and summer or winter. Rachelle exhibits in September as part of Northamptonshire Open Studios- this sometimes is a solo show or more recently a joint show with another popular artist. Rachelles works are held in collections in Europe and the USA. Much of the appeal about Rachelle's work is it variety in style, technique and subject matter. Rachelle is always looking to experiment but colour, pattern and texture always link the styles, perhaps a throw back to her training as a printmaker. Although Rachelle becomes absorbed in her latest series of works she is always striving to create something new and inspiring.New ideas can come at any time and from many sources- many visual but also music, holidays, photographs and stories. This means patrons can add to their collections with something different each time !
To add to Rachelle's versatility she has written and illustrated 7 educational project books for Rockingham Castle and illustrates for the musical production group Edgy Productions.
